Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the vial, and carefully remove the cap from the vial. Wipe the top of the vial with and clean alcohol swab and let it air dry for 10 seconds. Repeat this step every time the vial is handled.

Turn the vial of medication upside down and hold it firmly in one hand. Make sure the tip of the needle is submerged in the liquid, and pull back on the plunger with your other hand. Once you’ve withdrawn the proper amount of fluid, slowly pull the needle out of the vial.

Hold the syringe with the needle pointing straight up, and gently tap on the side of the tube with your finger to loosen any air bubbles. Draw back the plunger slightly to collect the bubbles near the base of the needle, and then push the plunger slowly to eject the air.

Squeeze the skin over the designated injection site between your thumb and index finger. Hold the syringe in the other hand, approximately 2 inches above the injection site, at a 90-degree angle (perpendicular to the injection site). Push the needle quickly into the skin, using a smooth, jab-like movement.
