What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction, sometimes referred to as impotence, is the inability for a man to achieve an erection that is adequate for sexual activity. Most men will experience intermittent periods of erectile dysfunction at some point, but it may not be a usual occurrence.
Erectile dysfunction is much more problematic when it becomes a frequent event. The most obvious problem it can cause is a stop to your sex life, but erectile dysfunction may do more damage as a result of this.
It is no secret that many men place a great deal of importance on their sexual ability, and having that ability held back in any way can cause serious problems. Many men suffer from low confidence and self-esteem as a result of erectile dysfunction, and some may have sudden spurts of anger, insecurity, or anxiety. Some studies have even shown that men with erectile dysfunction are at a higher risk of suffering from depression.
These effects do not only hurt the men who suffer from erectile dysfunction – men in relationships may inadvertently cause distress in their partners, as well. Erectile dysfunction may cause feelings of rejection and doubt, and could permanently damage even a healthy relationship.
